Hi,

Is a the value of a project custom field available to a formula in an other
project custom field? When I try this I get an error message.
Thanks ahead,

Yes it should be. However, calculated fields based on other calculated
fields are probably wise to avoid

Hi Jack,

I'm a bit nervous about "should be" when Project Server is involved.
Here's the background of my question.
Customer wants to see how much "buffer" or "slack" he has left on Project
level.
2003, you put a deadline on the final milestone, (deadline obviously later
than the finish date), that gave you slack on that final task whoich you
could reflect on Project level.
2007 has the incredible "improvement" of ignoring any deadline later than
the finish date so looking for something else.
A final milestone beyond the final task doesn't help, slachk on the project
will still be 0.

So, I use due date for the project as a required project custom field and
wanted to calculate the buffer or slack by the difference between project
finish and due date (Project custom field)
Any way I try, this tells me the formula contains an unknown field.

Have you actually seen this work? Or do you see an other way to calculate
project slack or buffer?
Thanks ahead

Jan,

I have seen it work and have done it.
Can you tell me exactly what fields you have defined and all that. You can
email me directly if you like.

If you guys would not mind keeping in the newsgroup, we lessor experienced
people can benefit from this discussion. You two are major players in
spreading the knowledge and this promises to be helpful.
Thanks. Just a selfish thought on my part.
