Custom fields with formula not usable in My Tasks?

N

Nicky Ang

I created an Enterprise custom field Date with a simple formula:

[Baseline Start]

I've opened my project files, included this custom field, pressed F9 and
publish the projects.

Now, go to PWA > Server Settings > Manage Views > My Assignments and this
field is missing from the "Available fields". When I shut off the formula,
this field shows up in "Available fields".

Why are custom fields with formulas not usable in Views?

Nicky, can you please check if you used an Enterprise Project Custom field or
an enterprise task field?
thanks

Hi Marc, thanks for your reply.

I tried both custom field types (Project and Task), and the same problem
persist. Only additional problem is when field type is Project, with or
without formula, it will NOT show up in "Available fields" selector inside
"Edit View: My Assignments".

Hi Nicky,

I have checked the settings and can confirm that not only that you cannot
have Baseline Data in the my task view but also that the formula does not
work either.

At this stage I am unsure to why this is the case, but I am at the project
server conference which starts tomorrow and will ask Microsoft to why this is
the case. I will get back to you.

thanks

Thank you very much. I will keep watch on this thread for your reply.

If there are any workarounds to show baseline data, other than adding custom
fields, I'm OK as well.

Hi Nicky,

I did talk to microsoft and they confirmed that at this stage you cannot
have any basline or custom task data in my task. I suggested it to be in
included in the next service pack or release and they did take the message.
Lets hope that it will be implemented shortly.

Sorry but that is all I can do.

OK thanks for that. Meanwhile, I'm going to look for workarounds to get
Baselines into the view.
