Custom Fields

When using custom fields is there a way to sort the fields and override the
alpha-numeric default sorting. In Primavera one can override the sort
default by entering a second number code to the fields in order to sort in
any desired order. Is there a similar function in Project?

Hi Scheduler01

It may be possible - I'm not sure - maybe someone else will help.

As a work around - you could insert a no. at the front
1 - Engineering
2 - Procurement
3 - Construction

Also, if you are working in the grouping function (as per P3 set up) Then
your custom field (Tools / customise/ fields / custom fields - / select text#
- value list) is just the code and your description will be used as the text
shown in the coloured divider. (as per P3)

(You can also use outline code for this - Tools / customise/ fields - /
custom outline code - Edit lookup table)

{As always - test this out on a copy}

Hope this helps

Use a spare field to identify your grouping such as Systems Engineering,
Test, Development, etc.

Explore the grouping features in Project: Project/Group By/Customeize
Group...
YOu can group and sort as you please.

You can also use a custom Outline Code to eastablish whatever scheme you wish.
