Custom Fileds

Michael

I am having trouble with defining custom fields. I am designing a new
form and need several custom fields to store data. I go to the all
fields tab in the form design and select new field. The new field does
not appear in any of the lists, what is wrong. I cannot create the
field again as it already exists. I can do this in Outlook 2000 but
not Outlook XP.
I am running Outlook XP SP2. I can see previous Custom fields but
cannot add any new fields.

Anyone have any ideas?

When you first create the new field, it will appear on the User-defined FIelds in Folder list in the Field Chooser. After you add it to the form, it should also appear in the User-defined FIelds in Item list.

Thanks for the reply.

I have been trying various ways to create the field, to create it as an
item field or Folder field and both but whenever I create the field the
field does not appear in in either the User-defined FIelds in Folder or
User-defined FIelds in Item list.

When I try to create the field as I am creating the text box on the
custom form Outlook crashes.

I have ensured that the custom form is published to the Appointment
folder and tried creating new items with form and the form works when
the text box is bound to a previously defined field, but I cannot get
any new fileds to work.

Is there any code that can be run to see what fiedls have been defined
as I keep getting errors saying the field as already been defined in the
folder but cannot see them. I must have quite a few lost fields hidden
away.

I have also checked the default mail folder to see if the fields were
created their but still cannot see them.

Any ideas?

Michael

What kind of form is this -- mail or appointment etc.? Please describe the exact steps you are following to add an existing custom property to the control.

You can enumerate the UserProperties collection to see what custom properties currently exist on the item.
