custom global footer to a document in word or excel

how can you setup a custom "global" footer for documents
in word or excel. Normally you go into print preview-
setup-header/footer-footer to create a custom footer for
that one document. Can you customize office, word or
excel so you have that will be the custom footer for all
your documents.
Secondly, can a custom footer show the entire path without
having to manually type the entire path to that document.
