custom hyperlinks don't work

C

Chris Boyd

I'm trying to create links from a table of contents page to various
pages in the PPT file, then on each of those pages, I have a button
that should link back to my table of contents. If I use one of the
"built in" links, such as Next Slide or Previous Slide, it works fine.
But when I assign a custom link, by assigning a particular slide to
the link, it works while the file is still open, but once I save the
file and quit Power Point then reopen it, the link is no longer there.
In the pallet where it should define the link I assigned it, it says
<empty string>.

Any ideas? HELP

This is a bit PC-centric but it probably applies here too:

Lost hyperlinks, hyperlinks link to wrong place, hyperlinks stop working

PPT has a limited amount of space for storing links. Links to slides bump you
up against this limit faster than other link types because they include the
full text of the slide title as part of the link.

"The Document Summary storage contains all the document properties,
custom properties, references, and other similar data."

By "custom properties" do they mean things like custom animations?

No; it's the stuff you see when you choose File, Properties and click the
Custom tab.

But it may include other stuff that isn't documented.
