I'm just about to pull my hair out over this issue.
I am trying to push out Office 2003 via Group Policy to about 60 VPN
users across the country. These laptops all have Office 2000 installed
currently. What I am trying to do is deploy office 2003 and have it
upgrade 2000 to 2003 or remove previous versions and then install
office 2003.
Office 2000 was not originally deployed via GPO or else this would be a
fairly easy task. They were installed with the installation media. I
can successfully push out office 2003 to the laptops but it isn't doing
anything to office 2000. It merely installs right on top.
I have tried using the custom installation wizard to create an MST file
that would remove previous versions of office with no luck and i'm told
this will not work. If anyone has a suggestion on how this can be done
i would greatly appreciate it.
I think that there may be a way to insert a command or script in STEP
16 of the CIW but not sure how to do it. Or is there a script that i
can execute before the SOftware Installation occurs that will remove
office 2000 without affecting the office settings files (i.e
Outlook)???
Thanks for looking.
