Custom menu in Excel disappears when chart is selected

I have a COM Addin for Excel that creates a custom menu on the main menu
bar. When I insert a chart via Insert | Chart and the chart is active my
menu goes away. When I click outside the chart the menu shows up again. What
may be causing this behavior? Any suggestions highly appreciated.

Hi Jurciu

This behavior is per design.

If you place the customized menu after "Help" it will be available even when
Excel goes into the "Chart"-mode.
