Can I create a custom motion path in the Mac version of PowerPoint 2008? I purchased the software mainly for this functionality, and now am realizing that Microsoft may not have given Mac users the ability to do this!!! HELP is there a plugin for this?????????????

Nope, it's simply not available for us at this point. You should use the
Send Feedback command in PPT to let MS know how much you care about this
issue.

FWIW, custom paths created with the Windows version work on a Mac. You
simply cannot create one in PPT 2008,

Hi,

As Corentin says, Microsoft has not implemented this feature on the Mac.

Please take a moment to request it. To do that, use the Help menu in
PowerPoint and choose the Feedback option.

I've fiddled with OpenOffice to see what happens. About 50% of the time
you can successfully create and/or edit motion paths in OpenOffice or
NeoOffice. Because it's so iffy, I can't give it a solid recommendation
as a way to do motion paths on a Mac, but I feel I should point out that
theoretically it is possible.

Of course you can do all this motion path business very easily in Keynote which is cheaper than Powerpoint anyway. I do all sorts of complicated animations for teaching - blood cells traveling along vessels, cancer cells growing etc.
