Custom Properties defined by linking to excel

Hi all,

Can anybody please help....

I have an excel file with my data - and a visio sheet with shapes.

What i want to do is link the custom properties of the shape to colour/
fill the shape (called A10102) with a colour.

I.e.: if cell A1 in excel has a date, colour the shape Green, if A1 is
blank, leave the shape white..


Is this possible or am i barking up the wrong tree?

This functionality is built into Visio 2007, if you're willing to upgrade.
