custom properties problem

I am new to Visio. I am trying to create a new field called Salary in an
Organization Chart.

I right click on a shape and then select Properties. In the Custom
Properties window I click Define. In the Define Custom Properties window I
click New. In the next window I type salary in the Label box and choose
Currency in the Type box.

In the Format box I use the arrow and select the $3 format and click OK.

In the Custom Property window the Salary field appears I type in a salary
amount and click OK.

The amount shows in the shape but but the currency formatting is not there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Joe,

I believe this is a problem in the Organization Chart add-on. It is not
respecting the Currency formatting when generating shape text.

In most other drawing types, you display custom property information using
Insert > Field. Text fields have their own formatting for values, and that
is specified in the Insert Field dialog. The formatting you specify in the
Define Custom Properties dialog really just affects what you see in the
Custom Properties dialog and Custom Property Window.
