Custom Sharepoint List Fields not visible in the Reporting DB (PS

Hi All,
Does anyone know how to get Customised Sharepoint List columns/fields into
the Reporting Database? Standard fields are available for reporting purposes
but the new/custom fields do not seem to be present.
The SDK says:
"The RDB does not replicate list customizations, such as the addition of a
column to the Project Issues list (ok - so it sounds like it can't be done,
but then says....) .
The project workspace Reporting events enable replication of customized
lists. (so now it sounds like it can??)"
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi frankod,

sorry to say, but no customised list or additional fields within Risks,
Issues or Deliverables come into the Project Server Database.

The only way you can report against these lists is via SharePoint. This is
where your probelm actually starts. Sure you could go directly to the DB, but
Microsoft does not support you anymore should you do so.

We developed a "SharePoint to Reporting Service connector" utilising the
Sharepoint webservices. This allows us to draw information out of Sharepoint
into reporting service using a language called "caml" ( I guess you could
call caml the sharepoint query language) .

This allows us to write reporting services reports of Sharepoint data (
including all customised lists). I am sorry to say but at this stage I
believe that is the only "official" way to get this information.

Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Marc,

Many thanks, although not the answer I was hoping for, at least now know -
thanks.

Can I ask - the "Connector" you developed is it using a webpart or .net
application? Any other options you can provide regarding this - eg share/buy
code as I think we will have to go down this path.

Hi frankod,

it is written in .net. unfortunatly we dont sell this tool commercially. It
is purly developed for our consultants to create SharePoint reports. I wish I
could sell it to you, but company policy is very strict on IP. I hope you
understand.

if you have a developer, he will see that it is not that hard to do.
Hope this helps
