Custom value Axis tick-mark labels

Is it possible to put custom text on the value axis, instead of
numbers?

For example, I wish to chart grades as a function of year.

B |
| xx
C | xx
| xx
D | xx xx
| xx xx
F |_xx___xx___
01 02


Is it possible to assign a numeric value to the letters? To implement
a type of lookup that converts the text to numbers.

A=90
B=80
C=70
D=60
etc?
