Customise Visio connectors

Is it possible to customise visio connectors? I am process
mapping financial accounts and would like to be able to
draft with connectors that have "DR" (debit) or "CR"
(credit) at either end of the line instead of arrows?

You can add text to a connector, and use the text tool ("A" on toolbar) to
drag the text where you want it.

That is the process that I had been using, I was hoping it
might be possible to change the connectors fundamentally
so that the "DR" and "CR" would appear at each end
automatically when a new connector is created.

Once the line has been modified, it can be saved to a stencil and reused as
any other master shape.

You could use Automation to change a connector on the fly.
