Customising Views

I have just migrated to Office XP and Outlook. I have found the the bit
where I specify the length of a day for the calendar view, but I am
struggling to stop the view being a 24 hour one, with the "day" shown in the
middle.

Basically, if I set a day to be 8 to 5, that¹s all I want to appear in the
calendar views of the day - but how do I do that ?

Fair enough .....

Then why on earth are we given the option to set the length of the day ? To
make a pretty colour band and nothing else presumably ?
