customization for new user group

Is there a way to deploy an .OPS to a new set of users. Can it be done with
a VB script? I am not sure is this is the right forum, so any advice is
appreciated. Also, if there is a better way to deploy a "settings package" I
am open to suggestions. We are running Windows XP with Office 2003. Office
is already installed on the machine. The settings that I am trying to push
out apply only to Word, nothing for Outlook. Thanks in advance.

microsoft.public.office.setup

As to your wish:
I would step up to yr IT ops - dept (or equivalent to) "Application
Scripters" and
request them to redirect the out-of-the-box Office Profile Settings to the
particular one
you require for a certain user group.
They in turn will script a deployment package including redirection to the
specific OPS file that is required to target this particular user group.
It's no use to re-apply the OPS file on Office startup; better to apply the
OPS file when deploying Office.
