Customize Fields Formula

C

Chamutal

My organization upgraded Project version from Project 2000 to Project
Professional 2003.
When I open a new project file (in Project 2003) all the customize fields
(local) contains the formulas I had in the previous version (Project 2000),
since I'm now using the formulas from the Enterprise customize fields, I
tried to delete the local formulas by deleting them from the global.mpt and
the new file (via the organizer) and deleting the formulas in the file, but
the formulas still appears when I'm opening a new file. The problem occurs
only on stations which used Project 2000 before the upgrade. When I tried to
copy the Global.mpt file from a station which this problem does not occur
(station that didn't have Project 2000 before I installed Project 2003), to a
problematic station the problem remains. Do someone have any idea how can I
repair this problem ?

Hello Chamutal,
Theoretically, you did everything which must be done. So the only thing I
would check is : did you worked on *the* good Global.mpt file. Very often
there are several Global.mpt files on the hard drive. Try Start / Search :
Global.mpt

You might try the following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional 2003
2. In the Project Server Accounts dialog, select the My Computer login and
click the Work Offline button
3. Click Tools - Organizer
4. Select the Fields tab
5. From the list on the left (in the Global.mpt file), select the custom
fields from Project 2000
6. Click the Delete button
7. Click the Close button
8. Close Microsoft Project Professional

In the above set of steps, steps #1-2 causes Microsoft Project to load the
Global.mpt file but does not load the Enterprise Global file. Steps #3-7
deletes the customized Project 2000 fields from the Global.mpt file. Step
#8 saves the changes to your Global.mpt file. Hope this helps.

You might also check to be sure that the file itself does not contain the
old customized fields.
Do it the same way with the organizer, but look on the right side and see
what is embedded in the file itself.
