Customize keyboard not working

Customize keyboard Word for Mac 2004 was working fine and now it is
not.

Running latest version of OSX on MacBook Pro.

I cannot type anything in the field for custom keystrokes and the
assign botton stays gray.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It is working fine here on a Mac Pro. Can you remember doing anything
interesting about the time it stopped working?
