I am trying to customize a ledger sheet. I want to create a new column that uses a formula (Sumif) and can't figure out how to do it.

I tried to add a new column, but all the columns I can find in the 'Insert Column' menu can't be changed to add a formula. So I tried to reformat a 'calculated column', but the formula is 'grayed-out' and can't be modified. Any ideas?

One (kludge) way (you won't have a ledger sheet, but it'll be almost as
good):

With at least one row in the ledger sheet filled out, copy the entire
ledger sheet (CMD-a, CMD-c). Paste into a regular sheet. Add your column
with your formulae.

Now select your data and choose Insert/List. You'll get the list
toolbar. Click on List Wizard, which will allow you to change settings
for your column(s) as desired.
