customize outlook, new journal entry type and form

I am using outlook's public folders as a place for maintaining equipment
records using the contact form. How do I cusomize the fields for this folder
only so that new records automatically select this form for this folder,
leaving the default contact format unchanged for all other folders. I also
use the journal as a sub-folder to store maintenace activities as task items
linked to the parent equipment (contact) record. When I do this, I have to
always copy the new journal item from my own journal into the public folder.
Is there a way arround this? Also, can I create a new journal entry type? I
would like to enter spare parts as its own icon and entry type.

Go to www.slipstick.com and enter a search term of default, click the article
button and search. The first item in the results set should tell you how to set
a custom form as the default form for a specific folder.

You and a lot of other people would like to be able to send journal items to a
public folder. It has been several years since I gave up on that feature. I
don't know if that has been added to the feature set in the mean time.

What you are asking for is really a sales group contact/journal system. Way
back then, about Office 95 time, I published such a group of forms on a Outlook
Resources web site. I know that it is still out there, just don't know the URL,
any more, as it has moved about several times. Only about three people in the
world ever indicated that they had tried to implement the custom forms. It was
somehow too complicated and too hard to customize my forms to get exactly what
they wanted. Rather than extend a free solution, they are happy to pay big
bucks to use BizTalk and the Contact Management System.

When I was doing custom journal items, the journal entry type list was
implemented as a private data type, and could not be added to. I don't expect
that it has changed.
