Customize right click menu

I would like to add the zoom function to the right click menu, so that when
I am open a Word document and find the type too small to read I can access
the zoom function without going up to the View menu. Is this possible in
Word for the Mac?

One option:

Go to Tools> Customize> Customize Toolbars/Menus - Toolbars tab

Tick the checkbox for Shortcut Menu, then click the Commands Tab

Select View form the left (Categories) List

From the right (Commands) list - as one continuous action - drag the Zoom
Command to the Text item on the shortcut menu bar, down to the preferred
topic and over to the spot where you want it to appear. The location in the
menu structure determines the conditions under which the item will appear in
a shortcut menu. [This takes a little planning, so you might check out the
various items first.]

For example, I've added Zoom in the shortcut menu bar to Text> Text - just
below the Cut/Copy/Paste commands.

Thanks, Bob. That worked perfectly.

Hello Lancelot,

If you would like a button for a specific zoom percentage (the example I
give is 125%, but it can be any value -- I have 2 such values that suit my
particular displays), see "View the document at 125 per cent" on page 188 of
some notes on the way I use Word for the Mac, titled "Bend Word to Your
Will", which are available as a free download from the Word MVPs' website
(http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]

Cheers,
