Customized Field value doesn’t show up in the timesheets.

Hello,
As an administrator, I created an enterprise customized field called
BRD which is a charge number. It is based on a lookup table. This field
is set to a value in the custom field tab of the task information panel
when creating a new task. So, I added this field in the current
timesheet sheet view, as information for the team members who are
editing their timesheets. Unfortunately, when a team member creates a
new timesheet this field appears but is always blank, although it was
supposed to be populated with the value set when creating the task.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Regards,
Daniel

That is normal behavior. I am not 100% why but I would guess it is because
most organizations wouldn't want team members changing values in task or
resource fields via thier time cards.

I agree with that, but actually I don’t want team members changing th
value, I just want to display the information in the timesheets. I wan
the team member being able to export their timesheet in Excel, includin
the value of the customized field. It’s because this information i
required by another software.

I too am looking for the solution to this problem. I have two task related
custom fields needed for exporting to other software. They are not calculated
but use a lookup table as with the OP. Any resolution available for this
behavior?

Upon further investigation I have found that when the custom field is
manually added to the assignment it is populated into the timesheet. It is
almost as if the assignment field is null and just refers to the custom field
in the task and the timesheet retrieves the null field.

While we could enter the custom field for each assignment, that would be a
lot of overhead for something that should pull from the parent task in the
first place.
