Customized Toolbar - Macro

Z

Zel Hilliar

Hi,

We have a couple of macros which are used extensively in our department in
Project 2003, for myself I have setup a custom toolbar with buttons to easily
run these, instead of everyone else in the department doing this manually,
(50 people or so) Is there a quicker way of rolling this out.. Like the
project file in question has the toolbar changes linked to it or something
like that, modifying the users toolbar automatically on opening?

Any help would be much appreciated.

ps. We only have Project 2003 Professional, not Server.

Regards,
Zel

Hi Zel,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Try Tools/Orgnizer.../Toolbars tab, select the toolbar in your project on
the right and Copy to the Global.mpt on the left. This will make it
available to any project you open on your PC. Then you'll need to replace
everyonelse's Global.mpt on their PCs, provided they haven't customized
their own. If they have, then create a simple one line project on your PC,
make sure in Organizer it contains your toolbar, then get each user to open
it on their PC and use Organizer to copy it to their Global.mpt. I hope
that's clear! :)

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Mike,

Sounds good.. Just for interest sake, so if the Project Plan we use contains
the Macro Toolbar in the Organizer, everytime someone opens this specific
plan it will have the customizations present?

The Macro I'm mentioning here is exclusively used for this one project plan.

Thanks,
Zel

Zel,
As Mike said, the toolbar must be transferred to everyone's Global. Just
having it present in the project file is not enough.

Hi John,

I don't have another PC to hand at the moment, but could you check on that?
I would have thought that if the project plan in its entirety is taken to
another PC and opened, it would contain any customization like toolbars.
Thanks :)

Hi Mike and all,

It CONTAINS the toolbar allright but Project only displays toolbars that are
present in the Global.

Mike,
I was going by memory from years ago when I had to insure our users had
a custom toolbar available to them. I remember I had to put it in their
Global, and Jan confirmed my memory.
