Customized toolbars changes don't stay

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I can easily customize my toolbar to add commends I use frequently, but each time I quit and later re-open Excel, the changes are not there -- the default toolbar has come back. How can I make the changes stay?
