customizing address block fields

S

SQLGUY

The documentation says that the addressblock corresponds to an addressblock
template, and the \f switch is supposed to help do this, but it doesn't say
how.
Where is this documented, or can you provide an example?
I want to add addressblock fields to my address block, but this process is
NOT documented!
please email (e-mail address removed) (after elimination "noise")
Thanks.

Don't bother with the AddressBlock. Just use the fields that you want to in
the configuration that you want.

Just to flesh out Doug's response a bit, it isn't officially documented, and
as far as I know, Microsoft does not recommend that you alter the "field
layout" within the ADDRESSBLOCK. A significant problem if you do decide to
alter the content is that using the built-in facility to edit the field will
override any changes you make.

If you experiment a bit, you will probably find that
a. apart from the first line of the Addressblock, text within the
<<__itemname__>> placeholders is displayed if that item is non-blank,and
text outside those placeholders is always displayed
b. Word does not appear to honour any of that stuff when constructing the
first line, i.e., it takes notice of the items in there but that's about it.
And there is at least one error.
c. placeholders only exist for a limited number of items, e.g. you have
CITY and STATE but not FAXNUMBER etc.
