Customizing default list indent.

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

Every time I create a new list by typing in 1. a(space), the list is indented at 1/4 ". I want it to be indented at 0", and so I go to Format > Bullets and Numbering... But the next time I open a new document, the list is indented at 1/4 " again. Do you know how I can change the default indent level?

If you intend to use Outline Numbering with any degree of frequency you'd do
best to not use the Automatic features at all. Familiarize yourself with the
use of Styles and follow - explicitly - the instructions available here:
