Customizing Gantt Chart View and Timesheet View

Carrie

Hello,

All of my Team Members are updating their tasks via PWA. I would like to
add a column to the Gantt Chart and Timesheet View. How do you do that?

I read some other threads and seen that you can open the project in Project
Pro, add customized fields and republish and they should appear.

I did that but not seeing the added fields in PWA. I obviously missed
something somewhere.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you Dale!

Now if I have percent completed as my tracking method, if I add Actual Start
as a column, that will not be active unless I choose Actual Work as my
tracking method, correct?

You can use the Actual Start column with the % Work Complete method of
tracking, but the column will not be active unless your project managers add
the Actual Start column to their list of published fields for EVERY project
using Tools - Customize - Published Fields, and then click Collaborate -
Publish - Republish Assignments. Doing this will "unlock" the field for
editing on the PWA timesheet. Hope this helps.

So if I add the published field for one project, republish, it's not going to
be active until ALL projects on the project server have that published field
in it? Is that correct?

Just so I understand this correctly, if I add a published field that does
NOT grey out the "let resources edit" check box, no matter what tracking
method I'm using, the box will be active. Assuming I republished the project
after adding the published field.

Thank so much!

If you add the Actual Start field to the list of published fields in only
one project, then that field will be unlocked on each user's timesheet in
PWA for only those tasks from that one project. That is why I said your
project managers must add this field to EVERY project and republish those
projects.

And yes, your assumption is correct about the "let resources change field"
option. If the option is enabled for your custom field and you select that
option, and then you republish the assignments, and your Project Server
administrator adds that field to the Timesheet view, then that field will be
unlocked for editing for task assignments in that project. Hope this helps.
