Customizing menus

Version: v.X Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I was in the process of customizing my new system and while in Word was customizing my menu bar and created a new tab for this in my menu. However, somehow it says I don't have this feature in my menus and now it no longer even shows up under the "View" tab! Help...does anyone know where it went?

Sorry, Teresa, but you'll have to be far more explicit as to what the
problem is...

Version: v.X Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I was in the
process of customizing my new system and while in Word was customizing my menu
bar and created a new tab for this in my menu.

A "new tab" for *what*?
However, somehow it says

Somehow *what* says & *how* does it 'say' it?
I
don't have this feature

What feature?
in my menus and now it no longer even shows up under
the "View" tab! Help...does anyone know where it went?

Again, vague references to "it" don't disclose anything useful to those of
us who cannot see your screen. You need to paint us a more vivid picture in
order for anyone to be able to visualize & understand the situation.

Additionally, make certain that you have Office fully updated. In order for
that version of Office to have any chance of functioning properly in Snow
Leopard it is critical that you have the 10.1.9 update applied.

Deleted Option from Toolbar/Menu Bar
Thanks for your response. I ended up resorting to calling tech support and can hopefully sound a bit more intelligent and hopefully helpful to anyone else who did the same thing I did (given that the different versions of Word don't make a difference).

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.6.2 and am using the Office for Mac Home/Student Edition.

What I was instructed to do to restore my menu item is listed below:

Close out of Word and go to the menu bar on my desktop:
Go
Home
   Library
      Application Support
          Microsoft
              Office
                  User Templates
(The item "Normal.dot" existed at the time)
I was instructed to drag "Normal.dot" into the trash.

After reopening Word, all the customization I had done and everything was back to the default that came with my program. He also warned me that any templates I had would be gone too. But that wasn't a problem. I was glad to be back up and running to re-customize again. He also warned me that I needed to be very careful while dragging items back and forth not to accidentally drag something off into nowhere (which is what I must have done).

Thanks to all who tried to help me and I hope this helps someone else.

Bye, from the newbie of chat support. It's a nice feeling knowing people are out there trying to help.

I would be really hesitant to attempt customisation of Word vX under OS
10.6.

I believe parts of the mechanism relied on the "Classic" OS 9 environment,
which is not actually there in OS 10.6.

I would encourage you to leave it alone until the next version of Word comes
out late this year: that will be a much better fit for OS 10.6.

Cheers
