customizing of toolbars

Re Word 97 --

I have done a little customizing of my toolbars.
I have moved some items from the standard toolbar and the formatting tool
bar to the menu bar.

Three buttons that I moved form the formatting bar to the menu bar refuse to
disappear from the formatting bar. They reappeared after closing the
customize window. Now they are on the menu bar and the formatting bar.

I go to customize and pull them off the toolbar, but when I close the
customize window they reappear on the formatting bar.

These are three buttons that I created years ago: RPM, RLB, and RH (remove
paragraph marks, remove line breaks, remove hyperlinks). Others I created
aren't presenting this problem.

Any ideas why they insist on staying on the formatting tool bar -- and how
do I get rid of them there?

You may want to rename your existing Normal.dot file and let Word create a
fresh one -- the default Word toolbars will reappear and your future
customizations should stick.
