Customizing Office 2007

HEGMS

Hi,

Previously in office 2003, I was using MAINTWIZ to create default parameters
for office applications and the define the default profile for outlook.
I've read that in Office 2007 systems, this application doesn't exist
anymore and is replaced by setup /admin tag
I've run it but I can only define default profile for outlook. Where I can,
like in office 2003, change parameters in word, excel etc...

Hi HEGMS,

Through Office 2003 the Deployment tools for MS Office were available as a separate download from the Office Resource Kit (ORK) as
the 'ORKtools' package. For Office 2000 through 2003 that included the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW) for deploying Office and
the Custom Maintenance Wizard (CMW) for changing an already deployed configuration.

For Office 2007, with volume license media and volume license product keys the 'ORKtools' instead are built-in to Setup.exe as the
new Office Customization Tool (OCT). It should allow you to change the configuration of each of the Office 2007 product that are in
an Office 2007 Network Installation Point location.

If you have one or multiple Office 2007 products you can copy the CDs of each into the same master folder to create an Office
Network Installation Point (oNIP). This is a change for Office 2007 that replaces the previous version's, separate for each
product, Office Admininstration Installation Points (oAIP), where each Office Admin Point also required a special Setup.exe command
line to create it).

Also available separately as a download, are Office 2007 pre-migration tools in the Office Migration Planning Manager (OMPM) that
may also be helpful.

The Office 2007 Resource Kit, that has information on using the new tools and the OMPM download are on MS Technet via
http://microsoft.com/office/ork or http://technet.microsoft.com/office

OK! To push this up a notch... I need to install the Finnish and Swedish MUI
packs in an Office 2007 English based installation and deploy through SMS.
Leaving the SMS part out of it, HOW do I include the MUIs? This link:

http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...a7cd-4a60-9674-79fd54ca34951033.mspx?mfr=true

and the ones around it seem to dance around the steps to do it, but don't
have a step by step solution that I can follow. Reading the information on
the /admin switch doesn't cover it either. Neither does this link:

http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...863d-496b-af8a-ceb3135a888c1033.mspx?mfr=true

Does anyone have step by step instructions THAT WORK they can provide? I've
posted this question by itself, but there have been no takers in the past
couple weeks to answer it... THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!!

Hi Bob,

At the bottom of the 2nd reference below is a link to
"Customize a multilanguage deployment of the 2007 Office system"
Are you using the process there? Have you added the Language Packs (Language packs can include both user interface, localized help
and proofing tools) in your Office Network Installation Point?

What are the exact steps you're using and products you're using?
(I'm assuming it's volume license media and product keys for Office 2007).
