Customizing Products and Services Amounts $

Hello,
I am new to BCM ... and have to throw in that I am an avid ACT user and
the ACT administrator for our company but we would like to switch over to BCM
for various reasons. In the month that I have been beta testing BCM I have
had the need to put in negative numbers (-$1596.00) as in a credit, in an
opportunity. And have yet to figure out how to do this.
I have looked through the posts and only past ones came
close to this subject, which no one replied too.... does anyone have any
suggestions. My "fix" at this point was to create a field for "adjustments to
order" and put the negative numbers in there, with nothing in the
products/services section.

My guess is that when products were added, it didn't occur to them
that they needed to handle coupons or refunds, so they helpfully treat
negative amounts as data entry errors; i.e. Opportunties are ways to
track potential sales and not what the customer will be ultimately
billed. A sales manager wants to aggregate how much a sales person has
sold (total value of Opportunities closed), and is less concerned with
how payments were made. If BCM is integrated with accounting, then
when the Opportunity is converted to Sales Order, the line items in
the Sales Order can be adjusted to handle discounts, coupons, and so
on.
