Customizing reports for different content

Hall

We use Project 2002/3 and have been frustrated by the apparent limitations
of
the Reports feature. So-called "customizing" reports is very canned and
inflexible.

I'm a newby to using VB in Project and fear getting into it. But truely
customizing a report may require VB use.

I'm looking for possible shortcuts, perhaps a website with VB code that can
do close to what I want.

The info I want is all in the entry table. I just need to put together a
report where I choose which columns from this table get included and where.

Any thoughts?

Hall,
I'm not sure I would call learning VBA a shortcut but learning how to
use it effectively will open up a whole new opportunity for you to
customize Project. There is a very good VBA training module on the MVP
website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project
From the main page hit the "links and downloads" link and look for
"Project 98 Visual Basic Environment Training Materials". Don't be put
off by the "Project 98" title. It is equally applicable to all current
versions of Project. The only difference will be working with objects
that have been added to the object library in later versions.

True customizing of reports will require VBA however you still may not
need to use it to get close to what you want. Have you customized the
entry table so the Project fields are set up in columns in the order you
want? That is easy to do via, View/Table/More Tables/Entry/Edit.
