Customizing the Switchboard Buttons

I'm trying to change the picture of the command buttons on the Switchboard to
correspond to the type of command (Open Form, Preview Report, etc.), or
otherwise do something to make it clear to the users that what they are
clicking gives them another menu, form, or report.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Open your form in design view. Right click on a button. In the dialog that
appears, click Properties. Go to the Format tab. Click on the three dots at
the far right of the picture property.

I can set the pictures, but i want them to change when the menu changes to
correspond to the different commands.

I don't think you can do it with a Switchboard. You will have to build your
own switchboard type forms.
