Customizing Timescale

Allison BioLumina

Hi -

I would like to customize the timescale label. I am working on a document
where the quarters are slightly different than the standard US Quarter
system. I was wondering if there is a way to customize the quarters
(literally making Qtr 3 now Qrt 4) I would like the month breakdown to
remain as-is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Allison

Allison,
Well the basic answer is "no", but I'm curious, what type of system
interchanges the 3rd and 4th quarter, while (I'm assuming) the 1st and
2nd quarter remain unchanged?

The only thing that halfway makes sense is a fiscal calendar with the
fiscal year starting on Nov 1 and ending on Oct 31. Project already
allows the user to set up a fiscal calendar. That is set up by making
sure the option for fiscal calendar is checked under Format/Timescale
AND setting the fiscal year start under Tools/Options/Calendar tab.

I too would be curious!

Is it the case that your financial year starts in October so that
quarter 3 of the calendar year is quarter 4 of your financial year.

If so, then you can go to Tools/Options/Calendar. Then select financial
year starts in October.

Hello al,

Another related question. Is it possible to customize a FR version MS
Project, which doesn't have a "quarters" or anything similar option to create
a quarters (2-month) option?

Thanks!

Hello mimijel,

I'm not sure I understand your question completely -- I'm a bit
baffled about what a FR version is -- French? -- but if you can
change the timescale to show months at the top of the scale, you can
certainly set the count to 2 months.

See Format > Timescale, select Months as the top tier and set the
count to 2. You may wish to consider creating a custom view by
copying the existing view (View > More Views) and setting the
timescale as needed. Then instead of spending time re-adjusting the
timescale, you can simply change to the customized view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
