Cut and paste between powerpoint and word 2007 generates picture

eI make a slide in powerpoint (a textboxes, rectangles and arrows). I the
copy these objects and paste them in Word: they are pasted as a picture which
cannot be edited (and which needs to be edited because the picture has the
arrows in other places than on the original powerpoint slide).

Is it possible to just paste the Powerpoint objects without them being
converted into a picture? How?

Additional info: Grouping before the paste does not help.

Of course. It has the options:
Picture (windows Metafile)
Bitmap
Picture (Enhanced Metafile)
Picture (GIF)
Picture (PNG)
Picture (JPEG)
Microsoft Office Graphic Object
(the last one has the selection bar on it, so it is the default one)
Even I do Paste Special and choose the last option the object pasted is
still a picture.

Well, since rectangles and arrows are graphic images they have to be pasted
as graphic images. The text box is also treated in many cases as a graphic.
The text within the box can be copied and pasted. Do not group the items in
PowerPoint before the move.

My testing:

When I create text boxes, rectangles and arrows and I do a Ctrl + A to
highlight all in PPT, do Ctrl + C to copy all to the clipboard, transfer to
Word and then Ctrl + V to paste all the items into Word all is copied but as
you said the individual images are repositioned somewhat. I can, however,
still click outside of all then select the textbox and edit all the text
inside. I can also select each graphic item and the textbox and move it
wherever I want.

Positioning in Word is more difficult since by default any image is
automatically tied to the place in the text the placeholder for the image is
placed. You have to manually turn off the Move with Text checkbox for each
image and you also have to set the image to be in front of or behind text to
allow text or images to overlap.

Hope this helps, let us know.

Did you this with Powerpoint 2007 and Word 2007. In the 2003 version I have
always been able to do what you describe. In 2007 after pasting in Word there
is ONE picture (not one for each powerpoint object) and no editing is
possible.

It seems that this functionality is gone (another one I used very often was
edit points: in 2007 it only works on freehand objects, not on the other
pre-defined shapes. So, much important functionality seems to be gone that I
would gladly go back to Office 2003, but Microsoft is very clever: a number
of their server products only work with 2007. SO, I'm stuck. And so again:
Please help: how can I do this in 2007

OK, I see what you mean. Try this:

When you copy to the clipboard then go to Word. Click Paste Special, then
Picture (Enhanced Metafile). This will put the image on the Word editing
area. Right click on the image and then click Edit Picture. You should be
able to move the individual objects and even edit the text now.

Let me know if this fixes your issue.

Ooops, sorry, I didn't do Paste as Picture (Enhanced Metafile). Your solution
works perfectly. THANKS a lot.

Do you by the way also have a solution for using Editing Points. I have the
impression it is only possibly on Freehand shapes. In Office 2003 I could use
it on any shape and I used that a lot.

THANKS again.

Kind regards

Marc

Oops again: when I said works perfectly I exagerated a little bit. Many
functions I need are present, some are missing. E.g. Align objects is missing.

In Powerpoint 2007, *copy* the pictures, tables, figures, etc.

Open Word 2007, click on* Paste Special* -> select *Enhanced Metafile*

Right click the picture and click edit to edit the picture. You ca
hold down *Shift *key and drag the corners of the picture t
enlarge/reduce it proportionately.

Hope this helps.

I faced a similar problem too
