Cut and paste from web pages, emails, is breaking up text into multipleExcel cells

Up until a couple of days ago. I have been copying my online checking,
mortgage, credit card, and other online tabular data into a spreadsheet
with no problem.

All numbers, dates, times, dollar amounts, and text phrases were pasting
into my spreadsheet cells correctly; one spreadsheet cell for each web
page cell.

However, in the last couple of days, any TEXT phrases in the web table
cell paste into my spreadsheet in multiple cells, each with one word in
them, as if they have been converted by the 'text-to-colums' tool. No
problem with the numbers, dates, etc.

It seems as if Excel is now looking at the space between each word as a
delimiter.

This also a problem with simply cutting and pasting a simple sentence
from a web page or an email, but NOT a MS word document.

This happens with Safari or Firefox, and I must assume that the problem
is with Excel.

I also tried using "Paste Special" using "HTML", "Unicode", and "Text",
but cannot solve this problem.

Hint: A few days ago, I used the 'text to columns' tool for another
Excel workbook, unrelated to my online data, using a "space" delimiter.
I also did some concatenation on another Excel workbook, about the same
time.

Sometime after that, I noted the problem with all of my other workbook
online table data 'cut-and-paste' operations.

I've looked for an Excel global preference or setting that may have gone
awry, or that I may have inadvertently triggered, but have not seen
anything relevant to the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help on this perplexing problem.

Don,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I suspected it might be something like that, but had never encountered
it before, and wasn't really sure.

Based on your reply I opened a new temp workbook and just changed it
back to "fixed width" instead of "delimited" and that did the trick, and
all my other workbooks are now receiving date as they should.

Yippee!

Thanks for your help!

You could do a macro in the workbook_open event of the FIRST wb to open or
assign to a button in personal.xls
