Cut and paste subtotals

Hi -

I receive spreadsheet reports weekly that have several thousand records. I
subtotal these reports to derive subtotals for specific customers. I then
take the subtotalled data and cut and paste it into a new report. The
problem is that when I cut the information out and paste it into my new
worksheet, I want to paste just subtotalled data, and not all of the records
that make up that data. How can I do this without having to cut and past
cell by cell or line by line?

Thanks foryour help!

To copy just the subtotal amounts:

1. Collapse the Subtotals, and select the range of cells that
you want to copy.
2. Choose Edit>Go To, click Special
3. Select Visible cells only, click OK
4. Choose Edit> Copy
5. Select the cell where the paste should start
6. Choose Edit>Paste

Use the outlining controls that are added by the subtotal wizard to collapse
the display so that only the rows you want to copy are visible. Then select
these rows. At this point, all the detail rows in between (that you can't
see) are also selected, so the next step is the important one. Use Edit > Go
To > Special > Visible Cells Only. Now when you copy and paste, only the
visible cells are copied.
