Cut, Copy & Paste grayed out in 2007 Word

When I select text in a 2007 Word document and right click, cut, copy & paste
are grayed out. Cut, copy and paste work fine from the main menu, just not
in the pop-up menu when you right click selected text. What can I do to fix
this?

Hi KLA,

If you highlight text and use Ctrl+C then, with no text selected, right click is Paste available?

Is the text in the document still highlighted when you right click? Sometimes if you right click and drag the mouse a bit it pulls
off of the text.

Is there anything besides text being selected?

Is this in any document or only certain ones?

All Word documents are like this. If I highlight any text and right click
(with it still highlighted), cut/copy/paste are grayed out. Cut/Copy/Paste
work from the clipboard. If I highlight text, use Ctrl+C, paste is still
grayed out. This is only happening on my boss's computer with Office 2007
and he wants it to work like it should.

1) Is your boss's copy of 2007 a trial that has expired? Is it a trial that
has not been activated?

2) Is it a purchased version that has not yet been activated?

This is a new Dell Optiplex computer with Office 2007 pre-installed by Dell
and activated by me. I have checked the Word settings on the other new
computers and compared with my boss's settings and they are the same.

Is it a *trial* version of office supplied by Dell, or a full operational
purchase version supplied by Dell?

Hi KLA,

If you hold down the ctrl key when starting Word (Office safe mode) do you get the same issue? If it now works, you could have an
add-in that's interfering.

Is it only in Word or in all of the Office 2007 apps?

Bob, it works in safe mode. The add-in is called PPC. We use PPC's eTools
program. If we open PPC eTools and then open a Word document from within the
program, the cut/copy/paste are not grayed out. Now I have to figure out why
the PPC add-in is causing the problem. I might have to check PPC for any
updates to see if this will fix the issue. This only happens in Word.
