Cut/copy/paste only pasting Print Screen

I have read several posts about this problem but am not finding a
solution. I thought that I had read a solution in the past that was
posted by Beth Melton. The problem is not with my keyboard or with the
application, and I was able to utilize the solution that was posted
before. I just can't recall what that was. Please help! I only want
to cut/copy/paste selected text, not the entire screen capture!

if you only want to do those selected tasks then all you need to do is select
your text (drag your cursor over text until shaded) right click your mouse
and there you will see your options (cut,copy,paste etc) from there choose
which options you want to do, either cut or copy, then put your cursor to
where you would like to your text to be pasted, once youve done that right
click your mouse then click on paste.

That's what you think! The problem is that when I paste (regardles of
the method used) I get the ENTIRE SCREEN SHOT (screen capture) and not
the test that I've selected.

I believe that this might be a Bitmap problem, but as I said I can't
recall how to resolve it.
