Cut off of footer

when I enter a footer in a word document, the bottom portion of any
characters that appear below the baseline are cut off . the "g", the "q"
the "p" etc. What am I doing wrong ? I'm sure it has something to do with
margins and gutters, but I can't find anything concrete.

Is this occurring on screen, or when printed?

Thanks for the reply, but I solved it. Setting for footer to small in Page
Setup.
