Cut & Paste error in WD2000

Can anyone help me with an odd problem I am experiencing when cutting &
pasting in Windows Explorer? When I cut documents or folders from one
loaction and paste them to another, the original files remain in their
original location. It's as though it thinks I have chosen to 'copy' and not
'cut'. This is most annoying because I have to keep going back to the
original location to delete the files.

It could have to do with where you're cutting from/pasting to. As an
analogy, if you Move a file from one folder to another on the same drive, it
will actually be moved. But if you "move" a file from a floppy drive to the
HD (or vice versa, I think), it will actually be copied. So if removable
media are involved, that could be an issue, especially if you're dealing
with a CD, from which you can't actually cut or delete files.

Unfortunately, I am cutting and pasting on the same drive. It appears to be a
recurring issue and I can't identify a pattern.
