Cut & Paste from Web page

Every time I try to cut and paste text, even a single
unlinked word or number, into Word or Excel, my firewall
goes off saying Word or Excel want to access the Internet
to the site I copied the text from. Why is this?

I get around it by doing Paste Special -> Plain Text. Is
there a way to make Plain Text the default paste method?

Thanks for the help to anyone who has advice.
