Cutiing songs short in powerpoint

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Wondering if it is possible to have a song play for say three slides, then move on to another one, effectively cutting the first song short, before it ends. I can get the song playing across slides, but it just plays until the song ends. Is there a way to cut it short?

There are several programs such as Anarchy, or sound Studio that can do this. The fastest way is to use Quicktime.
