Cutting and Pasting (file size increase)

I'm having a problem when copying a picture from a CD and pasting it
into word. I am using a simple copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) to
select a picture off a CD and paste into a document, but what happens
is that this 84kb picture jumps up in size and makes my word document
1.5Mb. This document has less than one page of text on it and when I
paste the picture, the document is still only one page. Is there any
reason why the cutting and pasting will do this to the file size? I
notice though that when I use the insert picture option, the size
doesn't increase incredibly like how it does using the Ctrl+C and
Ctrl+V method...although it does increase. Can someone help me?

G'day bomantas <<[email protected]>>,

Its been saved as a jpg or gif or something right? That's compressed,
so lets use that instead of the bitmap created by your copy n paste.
Use the Insert > Picture dialog.
