damaged cd's

I recently had a virus and had to wipe my hard drive and
reinstall xp. When I went to install my offfice 2000 pro
it would not install, will not auto start, i can not read
from the cd. all other apps installed fine from the cd
drive so I am assuming that I have damaged media
especially since I can see quite a few scratches on my
office 2000 cd's. How do i go about replacing the cd's?

However a recent post suggests that replacement media for O2K is no longer
available, If such is the case ebay or some such.

Paul, it has been confirmed many times that Microsoft no longer has
replacement CDs for Office 2000.

I fell prey to that same link until another kind poster informed that they
are out of Microsoft Office 2000 replacement disks.

Makes sense when you realize the program has been out for 5 years.

Guess i should have backed them up but you figure
microsoft would offer a download or something for those
who actually spent money for their software. Thanks

by folks who did NOT pay for the software.

Hi,

Sometimes this works sometimes not. Get a clean lint free cloth and wipe
down the CD. Making sure it is clean of lint and dust, take some clear
fingernail polish and paint over the scratches. Sometimes the will prevent
the light from bending.

Remember this does not work all the time and should only be used on CD's
that can't be read at all.
