Damaged Word Profiles for Users

Hi,

I recently have had a problem where a user on a machine couldn't open
Word. I tried everything - updates, reinstall, install 2004 version
and couldnt open it. Every other user on the Mac couldnt open Word.
The only files that are user specified are in
Users->Username->Library->Preferences. Is there a safe way to rebuild
these files? What would cause these files to become corrupt?

Trash them. Office will recreate the files automatically. You'll lose
some customizations though.
