DAP Removes ReadOnly When Saved

Hello,
Work related problem. Access 2003.

I have two Group filter fields (combos)
I set 3 other fields to "read only" (textboxes)
And I have 4 that can be edited. (combo lists)

After changing a value in a combo.
When I click the Save button on the Record Navigation bar,
it removes the "read only on the 3 text boxes.

Why is this?
And how do I fix it?

Can anyone help??
When I click the "Save" button, any readyonly fields are turned off and data
can be edited.
