Dash - aoutomatically getting replaced

I am typing the "-" key in a document with tab seperated columns and word is
always replacing it with "-"

How do I stop this happening?

In Word 2003

Tools > AutoCorrect Options... >AutoFormat As You Type
Uncheck the Replace as you type
Hyphens (--) with dash (-)


And, if you do need a dash, you can then type it with Alt-0151 on the
numeric keypad. An En dash, incidentally, is Alt-0150
