- (dash) Signs Appear in Design View Not Appear in Code View

I inserted a portion of Word text into Frontpage 2003 in Design View. There
appears - (dash) signs dividing some words eg. exis-tence, re-cite etc but
these signs don't exist in code view.
And a find/replace operation in design view for this sign won't work since
it is visible to the eyes but "invisible" for the other operations.
What would be the cause of this problem?

Paste your text into Notepad, then into your page in FP first.
