Data Access Page connection string

Has anyone manipulated the connection string for a data access page? I would like to use a general login and password screen to pass info from a cookie to the string (This has been built). However, when I attempt to change users, by passing various username to the string, I 'm asked to login for the ODBC connection. It seems that the DAP somehow remembers the original user id. Even if I manipulate the saved string directly with adifferent user id. I have seen some postings that have been similar, but never answered. Any help is greatly appreciated.
